Right now is a good time to defeat stress, diet culture, & deprivation, and all the over and undereating that comes with it. It seems like most people fall into two extremes with the holidays:

- Either they just completely let loose & enjoy ALL the "foods" they want & figure they’ll deal with any repercussions next year.

- Or, they have all kinds of rules & deprive themselves of enjoyable foods and social situations for fear of putting on holiday weight.

Where’s the balance? Is it even possible? YES! It absolutely is. Not just during the holidays, but all year round! To find that balance, we need to start with where these extreme ideas even come from. The answer is… diet culture. Diet culture is a set of social beliefs & expectations that place being thin above all else. It equates being ‘skinny’ with being healthy, which simply IS NOT true.

This results in a cultural idea that thinness gives you a higher moral or social status. Of course, we know this isn’t true since we always have value as image bearers of God.

Society just makes it very hard to know our intrinsic value when we are constantly being told what to do to be "good."

That extreme thinking has led us to label foods, thoughts, & experiences as either good or bad, with no in between. And then we fall into either overeating & binging, or under eating & deprivation.

💌 If you don’t want to wait on your goals & want to feel balance this season, then you can still join us at the above linked groups! And, please email me anytime at sagesonder.mp@gmail.com & we can chat about your goals & if the coaching I offer could help you reach them.

Yours in joy & wellness,
